Siril Malmedal Hauge & Kjetil Mulelid present “Cranes” - A poetic meditation on connection, memory and life long bonds
10.4.2026 08:45:00 CEST | Sounds Like Gold | Press release
“Cranes” is a poetic and atmospheric single from Siril Malmedal Hauge and Kjetil Mulelid’s upcoming album I Remember Oranges. The song, featuring Mathias Eick, is an ode to the majestic creatures that move together in lifelong bonds. In their dance, a vivid imagery unfolds, reminding us of our own capacity to love, to remember, and to carry forward what is precious.

Written by Siril Malmedal Hauge, the song is inspired by a journey to the silk city of Hangzhou during the duo’s first tour in China - a country where cranes are a common symbol of loyalty and harmony.
The song is elevated by Kjetil’s piano playing, circling and flowing around the beautiful presence of trumpeter Mathias Eick, like cranes moving across timeless landscapes.
The single offers an intimate glimpse into the duo’s musical universe, where spontaneity, presence, and interplay are at the core. After several years of extensive touring both nationally and internationally, Hauge and Mulelid have developed a close and intuitive collaboration. This is also reflected in the recording of I Remember Oranges, where much of the material was recorded live in the studio, often in a single take, to preserve an unfiltered and organic expression.
The album title is taken from Molly Drake’s song of the same name, reflecting a thematic focus on memory, love, and human connection. Within this landscape, “Cranes” stands out as a central piece, a musical reflection on enduring bonds and moments that leave a lasting imprint.
In recent years, Siril Malmedal Hauge and Kjetil Mulelid have established themselves as strong voices in the Norwegian music scene, with critically acclaimed releases, Spellemann nominations, and performances across the globe. Together, they invite the listener into a sonic space defined by intimacy, sincerity, and openness.
I Remember Oranges will be released on May 8 via Svale Records.
