Traffic figures from Avinor for January 2022
10.2.2022 10:07:31 CET | The Avinor Group | Press release

“We have seen an increase in passengers in January on international routes, especially from Norway’s biggest hub, Oslo airport. International traffic is now at almost the same volume as domestic routes from the capital’s airport. This is in spite of Omicron, which is currently leaving its mark on society. We believe this increase may reflect high levels of vaccination, Covid-19 certificates, and a general increase in the desire to travel among the population despite the many travel restrictions that were in place during January. At the same time, the domestic market is also growing. Overall, we still remain some way below the traffic figures in 2019, which was our last normal year before the pandemic,” says Gaute Skallerud Riise, VP Traffic Development, Avinor.
Traffic figures for the four largest Avinor airports in January are as follows (figures compared with 2021)*:
Oslo Airport, Gardermoen
• Domestic: 106.7% more passengers – a total of 429,332
• International: 413.1% more passengers – a total of 410,531
• Commercial air transport movements: 72.8 % - a total of 11,070
Bergen Airport
• Domestic: 73.9% more passengers – a total of 192,224
• International: 446.9% more passengers – a total of 66,043
• Commercial air transport movements: 36.1 % - a total of 6,034
Stavanger Airport
• Domestic: 77.4% more passengers – a total of 91,779
• International: 340.7% more passengers – a total of 39,611
• Commercial air transport movements: 27 % - a total of 3,507
Trondheim Airport
• Domestic: 91.7% more passengers – a total of 140,130
• International: 561.0% more passengers – a total of 21,845
