In several older jazz songs, you find the word "strut," which is a type of dance. When the trombones shine on this album, it is in the form of being in the New Orleans trombone tradition: raw, groovy, and many at once. The phenomenon Elias Tafjord skillfully showcases his jazz background on the track, playing in the so-called second-line tradition from the crescent city.

A rondo is a compositional form where an A part continually returns, with alternating new parts for each round. Andreas explains:

- In the studio, Elias recorded triggers on the drums, causing his computer to play a bass sound with varying pitch every time he hit a drum. So, trombone, drum kit, and the solid bass sound are played live in the studio.

Club music legend Hans-Peter Lindstrøm entered the production process, using his outstanding musical taste buds to create a complete sonic landscape.

- I sent the recordings from the studio to Lindstrøm, who sent back about 30 different tracks, saying I should choose the ones I liked best. So, the sounds in the song that are not trombone, drums, or bass sound are all his work! Fantastic sounds that brought the whole song to life on a new level, says Andreas.

Artist Andreas Rotevatn (b.1989) was born and raised in Nordfjordeid on the west coast of Norway. Since 2013, he has been based in Oslo. He holds a bachelor's degree in jazz trombone from Grieg Academy and a master's degree in performing music technology from the Norwegian Academy of Music.

Rotevatn could potentially have had a somewhat elitist approach to the music world - he is both a nominated composer for the album "alea iacta est" with the jazz orchestra OJKOS and the winner of the Jazz Prize in 2023 for the subsequent album "Mensa Rotunda." In addition, he currently holds the prestigious work grant from the Cultural Directorate. But alongside success in the narrower part of the Norwegian music scene, Rotevatn has also worked in more accessible formats - either on tour as a trombonist with Cezinando, Fieh, Razika, and Jaga Jazzist, or on record with, among others, Gabrielle, Highasakite, Jonas Alaska, and Big Bang.

Rotevatn will release his solo album "Av daude gror" May the 3rd.
