Lufthansa Group Strengthens Its Commitment in Norway with New Routes and Increased Capacity in the Summer 2024 Program
Avinor is pleased to announce that the Lufthansa Group is intensifying its focus on Norway as part of its 2024 summer program. This expansion is a response to the growing interest in Norway as a travel destination, especially from European travelers. Trondheim will be a new Lufthansa destination from Munich.

Since the end of the pandemic, we’ve gradually widened our footprint in Norway and witnessed an increasingly strong demand, be it outbound as well as inbound. This year , Lufthansa Group will offer more than 150 weekly departures from 7 cities in Norway.” says Flemming Nordestgaard, General Manager Lufthansa Group Denmark & Norway
New Routes and Increased Capacity
Today, Lufthansa announces the following new routes and capacity increases:
· Munich to Trondheim (new route): Two weekly departures starting April 28th. · Munich to Bergen: Increase from one weekly departure to six weekly departures.
· Munich to Oslo: Increase from three to four daily departures.
· Frankfurt to Bergen: Increase from 14 weekly to 18 weekly departures, with four additional weekly flights.
Expansions from other Lufthansa Group carriers:
In addition to Lufthansa's new routes, other airlines of the Lufthansa Group will also introduce the following routes to Norway:
· SWISS: From Geneva to Oslo, starting April 2nd.
· Discover Airlines: From Frankfurt to Harstad/Narvik, Evenes, starting May 16th, and from Frankfurt to Alta, starting December 19th.
· Edelweiss: From Zurich to Harstad/Narvik, Evenes, starting June 10th.
These expansions from the Lufthansa Group underscore Norway's growing position as an attractive travel destination. "We are seeing a strong increasing interest in Norway among international markets, especially in Europe. The Lufthansa Group's increased presence in Norway is concrete evidence of this trend," says Nina Julianne Jensen, Traffic Developer at Avinor.
