Liv Andrea Hauge Trio presents a Keith Jarret inspired single: Gullregn
On February 2, 2024, Liv Andrea Hauge Trio will release their second album, which is their first studio album, “Ville Blomster” (“Wildflowers”). Today they present the first song from the album, “Gullregn,” (Golden Rain / Common Laburnum) a vibrant piece of music that draws inspiration from the Keith Jarrett Trio.

The trio's first record, “Live from St. Hanshaugen,” was recorded just a week after they began playing together. “Ville Blomster” on the other hand, represents the result of a year of intense touring and collaboration. The trio has developed its unique expression, which allows for exploration and improvisation. The title symbolizes the wild and improvised side of their music, as well as the beautiful and simple melodic elements (the flowers) that stand out.
Liv explains:
"My most important source of inspiration is undoubtedly other music, and I spend an incredible amount of time seeking out and listening to new music and attending concerts. When I wrote the songs for this album, I was particularly listening to Kit Downs' 'Vermillion' and the song 'My Back Pages' from the first album of the Keith Jarrett Trio, which is a Bob Dylan song I suddenly got a tremendous kick from. Music sometimes directly inspires me to write a certain type of song, while other times, it's more about the feeling the music gives me that comes out in the songwriting.
I wrote Gullregn at home in Oslo one evening when I was invited to a birthday party but couldn't attend. So, this song was an attempt to create a good atmosphere at home for myself, while also carrying a subtle undertone of something a bit sad. The song is heavily inspired by the already mentioned 'My Back Pages' with Keith Jarret Trio, a live recording I stumbled upon earlier this year, and it might have provided the biggest musical kick for me this spring."

The trio was formed when Liv Andrea Hauge was chosen as Norway's representative in the European jazz program Footprints in 2021. She invited August and Georgia to join her on a tour in Slovenia and Hungary in 2022, and that's where the trio was born. The three musicians, who did not know each other previously, immediately found a spark of chemistry and have since played together, developing their own unique expression.
Liv Andrea Hauge (b. 1995) is a musician based in Oslo, originally from Mosjøen in Nordland. She studied jazz piano at the Norwegian Academy of Music and, despite her young age and career, has left her mark with Kongle Trio (featuring Veslemøy Narvesen on drums and Øystein Skjelstad Østensen on bass) and Laydbird Orchestra. In 2022, she released the album "Live from St. Hanshaugen" with the Liv Andrea Hauge Trio, recorded in Liv's living room. The album was hailed as one of the year's best Norwegian jazz records.
