First single from Gjermund Larsen Trio´s upcoming album is out today!
After a seven-year wait, Gjermund Larsen Trio, one of Norway's best-known and beloved folk music ensembles, are releasing a new album. The first taste is the beautiful and goosebump-inducing single "Morgenslått", out today.

Release: 11.08.2023
Artist: Gjermund Larsen Trio
Title: Morgenslått
ISRC: NOGHH2353010
Record Label : Heilo
Fiddleplayer and composer, Gjermund Larsen, starts telling about the process behind the recording:
"We were all so ready and excited to go into the studio in January 2023, and the fact that we recorded in the room we have been practicing in since 2005, made the recording a fantastic experience. No pressure, a good atmosphere and wonderful musicianship."
The first single from the album, "Morgenslått", testifies to this, and has become a woven and gripping piece of music that shows the Gjermund Larsen Trio's unique ability to create moods that touch the listeners. With Gjermund Larsen's playful and emotional fiddle playing, Andreas Utnem's driving piano playing and Sondre Meisfjord's steady double bass, the trio takes us on a journey that grabs hold of the heart.
Gjermund says the following about the name of the song:
"The name itself comes from the fact that I often start and end the day by listening to the music I work with, and I thought this particular one suited me well in the morning. I can't count how many times I've started the day by listening to different versions of "Morgenslått".
The Gjermund Larsen Trio, which consists of Gjermund Larsen (fiddle), Andreas Utnem (piano) and Sondre Meisfjord (double bass), has since their first release in 2008 garnered praise and a number of awards, including a Norwegian Grammy (2008), German phonographic critics award (2015) and TONO's composer award (2016).
The new album "Tøyen Sessions" will be released on October 6th.
