Norwegian Funkband Three Souls is releasing a powerhouse of an album today!
Their second album "Red Tide" contains strong messages delivered in a soulful and groovy musical package.

Three Souls is an explosive 8-piece funk powerhouse and has established itself as one of the hottest live bands in Norway today. That's why it's even more impressive when the band enters the studio and produces music of the highest quality, influenced by elements from the 70s funk tradition mixed with inspiration from whatever is happening in the musical world today.
Their second album "Red Tide" is out today, and the listener is shown a glimpse into the band's musical universe—a soulful journey that leaves a lasting impression. The band tackles political and existential themes, wrapped in a musically danceable powerhouse. It's diverse and dynamic. The groove is solid from the first moment, with a tight and solid band forming the foundation, and a horn section that adds color and blows the listener away. Vocalist Sem Petros displays a wide range, delivering vocals that are smooth and warming while also delivering with solid power—especially in the rap sections.
The planning for "Red Tide" began during the pandemic. Three Souls, having just released their debut album, were determined not to sit back but to get started on their next record. Despite the restrictions making it somewhat harder to meet and write, the group remained optimistic and solution-oriented, gathering on Zoom morning after morning for full-day writing sessions. After the pandemic, the group was able to come together physically again to write music. Vocalist Sem Petros shares the story of how the song "My Delight" came to be, a track about longing for the nightlife without restrictions:
"When the restrictions finally allowed us to meet in smaller groups, we were able to test some of the ideas we had been holding onto. The rehearsal spaces we normally use hadn't opened yet, so we settled for a small room we borrowed at Hausmania. Guitarist Konstantin, who had been sitting with an idea to make a club-inspired song, brought a bass riff and asked Olve and Mikkel to play it at 134 bpm, while he himself played a hook on top. Surrounded by the visual and creative impulses that Hausmania offers, 'My Delight' came into existence."

As a live band, the groove collective Three Souls has been impressive. Adding excellence to the experience with brass instruments and a charismatic frontman, it's easy to understand why this band has sold-out concerts and charmed live audiences for a long time.
The album was recorded at Athletic Sound in Halden and produced and engineered in collaboration with Dag Erik Johansen and Christian Løken, with mastering by Espen Høydalsvik. Three Souls consists of Sem Petros on vocals, Konstantin Ellingsberg Helmers on guitar, Mikkel Brændsrød Bjørneboe on bass, Sondre Moshagen on keys, Olve Gravklev on drums, Lars Fauchald Harmann on saxophone, Henrik Smelhus Sjøeng on trumpet, and Emil Bø on trombone.
