Reduces uncertainty in poor ground conditions

Share

Risk and lack of knowledge about ground conditions is a recurring theme in ground work projects, and can be a contributing factor to projects experiencing financial overruns when it turns out that the ground conditions were not quite as assumed. New technology now makes it easier to reduce and communicate this uncertainty.

NGI and Geovita have defined a new workflow for 3D modelling of ground conditions and foundation solutions through all phases of construction and infrastructure projects, from early phase, design, execution and completion.

The newly developed modelling can reduce costs in the projects. At an early stage one can communicate about the premises for what must be done in the ground with regard to groundwork and choice of foundation.

Byggeindustrien (a Norwegian magazine for the building and onstruction industry) has a major article on this topic. See the article here (in Norwegian text only).
