Dorsey & Whitney Represents Kvaerner ASA in $74 Million Arbitration Award
International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP represented Kvaerner North American Construction, Inc. (a subsidiary of Kvaerner) in arbitration proceedings against Foster Wheeler North America Corporation related to the Longview project delivered in 2011. Dorsey won the matter and Kvaerner North American Construction Inc. will be awarded from the arbitration proceedings USD $74 million in cash from Foster Wheeler North America Corporation.
Minneapolis partner Jocelyn Knoll led a team of Dorsey lawyers from the Minneapolis and London offices. The Dorsey team included: partners Eric Ruzicka, Bryan Keane, Dan Brown, Katie Pfeifer and Jan Greve, senior attorney Colin Wicker, associates Rebecca Weisenberger, Kate Johnson, Lincoln Loehrke, Ben Kappelman, and Hugh Brown, e-discovery & client technology global director Caroline Sweeney, senior paralegal Mary Jo Stark, and paralegal Kirsten Rushing.
The arbitration award brings to a close the claims arising out of the design and construction of the Longview Power Plant. Through settlements and the arbitration award, Kvaerner will recover more than $126,000,000. “Our client is relieved that after more than four years of protracted litigation it can close the Longview chapter.
