Orange Polska Has Launched a World’s First Innovative IPv6 Solution with SoftAtHome
Orange Polska, the Polish telecommunications operator, and SoftAtHome (Suite 31-215, Venetian), a provider of home operating platforms enabling convergent services for the digital home, announced at the CES the successful migration of Orange Polska’s deployed ADSL, VDSL and FTTH gateways to IPv6, thanks to an innovative Dual-Stack Lite PCP solution powered by SoftAtHome.
Because quality of services is its major concern, and has been recently well rated by its subscribers, Orange Polska wanted to continue following the trends. With this migration to IPv6, the Polish telecom operator offers its customers with a better reactivity of servers when accessing their applications on native IPv6 sites.
Recently, migration to IPv6 was starting to be a necessity, as IPv4 addresses depletion was becoming a challenge. On the one hand, there was a demand from some customers to benefit from new IPv6 services on the other hand it was important to offer the same quality of experience to IPv4 customers. By introducing Dual-Stack Lite PCP solution, as soon as November 2013, Orange Polska has found a way to deliver IPv6, to provide a better Internet access and advanced services to its customers without having to invest massively in their access network infrastructure.
Accompanying Orange Polska since May 2010, SoftAtHome has participated to the launch of several generations of gateways in the country. SoftAtHome software is available on hundreds thousands of Livebox. For Orange Polska’s IPv6 migration, SoftAtHome provided its software solution ConnectAtHome on Home Gateway to enable IPv6 Dual-Stack Lite PCP support between the Gateway and the core network.
ConnectAtHome is SoftAtHome solution for home gateways, paving the way to Smart Home services. It enables gateways to exploit high speed connectivity options, including fiber connection, VDSL2 bonding and vectoring, as well as 4G access and super-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi. ConnectAtHome also brings media center features enabling personal content discovery and sharing both within the home and outside.
