Focus on Excellence in Endoscopy: PENTAX Medical at UEGW 2014
PENTAX Medical will be presenting the latest technologies and programmes designed to ensure excellence in endoscopy on Stand 9, Hall Y at UEGW 2014, Vienna, 18th-22nd October. PENTAX Medical will highlight its innovations launched to support ‘Quality in Colonoscopy’, as well as products for diagnosis and treatment of biliopancreatic diseases, and delivery of professional training and education within gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Reinforcing the Company’s commitment to education and excellence in endoscopy, and the necessity for early diagnosis in colorectal cancer (CRC), PENTAX Medical will introduce a tablet-based app, ‘Quality in Colonoscopy’ (QiC). Available from both, Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the app guides a clinician through the scientific background behind the pillars of QiC.
The QiC pillars (adenoma detection rate, caecal intubation time, withdrawal time, patient comfort and lowest rate of complications) aim to ensure effectiveness in bowel cancer screening and ultimately contribute to reduction in numbers of interval CRCs. The new QiC app also enables the user to learn how PENTAX Medical’s broad range of colonoscopes and highly innovative associated technologies meet clinical needs and foster the pillars of QiC. A slim version of the QiC app will be available for download to smartphones via the UEGW Wifi.
PENTAX Medical will launch a new scientific website on i-scan imaging - this is specifically designed for clinicians to share information and experiences on the use of the Company’s unique image enhanced endoscopy technology. As it delivers a well-defined image of mucosal and vascular patterns, i-scan technology fully supports early detection, characterisation and demarcation. The new website will provide a valuable tool for clinicians to exchange information on cases, share videos and learn more about i-scan’s clinical benefits and new applications. Regular online training and seminars will also be held through the i-scan platform at .
PENTAX Medical's technologies will also be a key focus of many scientific posters and presentations at UEGW. Additionally, as part of the learning centres and live demonstrations organised by the European Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy during UEGW, PENTAX Medical will showcase state-of-the-art endoscopic ultrasound technologies and its latest innovation for colonoscopies, Smart Medical's G-EYETM endoscopes.
Following the success of previous years, PENTAX Medical will again be hosting an exclusive Expert Dinner during UEGW. The scientific programme, to be chaired by Dr Marc Giovannini (Institut Paoli-Calmettes, Marseille, France) and Prof. Ralf Kiesslich (St. Marienkrankenhaus, Frankfurt, Germany), will focus on the synergies between endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP procedures to both diagnose and treat biliopancreatic diseases. The programme will include presentations from world renowned clinical experts Prof. Massimiliano Mutignani (Ospedale Niguarda Ca´ Granda, Milan, Italy), Prof. Martin Götz (Universitätsklinikum Tübingen, Germany) and Dr Erwin Santo (Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, Israel).
