Q1 2026: KONGSBERG reports strong order intake and revenue growth
6.5.2026 07:00:00 CEST | KONGSBERG | Press release
6 May 2026 - KONGSBERG’s revenues increased by 26 per cent to NOK 9.2 billion in the first quarter of 2026, compared with the same quarter last year. The quarter was characterised by high activity levels and strong demand*.

“I am proud to present strong results for the first quarter, with high revenue growth and solid margins. Order intake ended at NOK 27 billion, and the order backlog now stands at NOK 152 billion. In a global environment characterised by conflict and rising geopolitical tensions, KONGSBERG’s role as a critical supplier to the security of allied nations has never been more important,” said Eirik Lie, President and CEO of KONGSBERG.
Highlights and key figures, first quarter 2026:
- Revenues of NOK 9,234 million, an increase of 26 per cent compared to the first quarter 2025
- EBIT of NOK 1,537 million in the quarter, up 55 per cent from NOK 989 million in first quarter 2025
- EBIT margin of 16.6 per cent in the quarter
- Order backlog increased by NOK 17,060 million, bringing the order backlog to NOK 151,975 million
For 2026, KONGSBERG expects revenue growth above the 2025 level.
“KONGSBERG is well positioned for further growth, and we are experiencing record-high demand for our solutions. We have a strong product portfolio that addresses our customers’ needs across domains, from deep sea to space,” said Lie.
KONGSBERG develops and delivers equipment and technology to the Norwegian Armed Forces and Norway’s allies. In line with increased defence investments and strengthened preparedness across NATO countries, the company is experiencing strong demand across its product portfolio. KONGSBERG holds strong market positions within missiles, air defence, weapon stations and counter-drone systems, and its solutions are well positioned for several ongoing and future procurement programmes.
Order intake in first quarter was NOK 27 billion, compared with NOK 13 billion in the same quarter last year. Growth during the quarter was primarily driven by orders for weapon stations and counter-drone systems, although activity was high across all divisions. The largest contract awarded during the quarter was for the delivery of the counter‑unmanned aerial systems (C‑UAS) to Poland, valued at NOK 16 billion. We are seeing increased interest in counter-drone solutions as a result of ongoing conflicts, such as in Ukraine and the Middle East.
In the first quarter, KONGSBERG and Salt Ship Design were selected to design the standardized vessels for the Royal Norwegian Navy. This marks an important milestone for both KONGSBERG and the Norwegian maritime and defence industry. KONGSBERG and Salt Ship Design were also awarded a contract to design new standardized vessels for the Canadian Coast Guard, underpinning the export potential.
*All figures are presented on an alternative performance measures (APMs) basis. This means that they include the proportional share of 50:50 joint ventures. Patria, with a 49.9% ownership interest, is not included in the APMs. Please refer to the quarterly report for the full definition and description of the use of APMs.
