First Taste of Døgnville: Liv Andrea Hauge Trio Releases Natt Natt Natt

Liv wrote the piece during a week of high fever, in a kind of half-awake, dreamlike state – and perhaps that’s why the music carries a sense of darkness and mystery, like a nocturnal walk through a city where reality begins to shift and time slips through your fingers.

The single offers an early glimpse into Døgnville, set for release in the fall of 2025. The Norwegian word “døgnvill” describes a state of disorientation – like that of jet lag or sleeplessness – and this feeling is central to the music: a careful balancing act between wakefulness and dream, between structure and freedom.

Liv Andrea Hauge Trio consists of pianist Liv Andrea Hauge, bassist Georgia Wartel Collins, and drummer August Glännestrand. Since 2022, the trio has emerged as a vital voice in new European jazz, with critically acclaimed releases such as Ville Blomster and their reception of the European Jazz Network’s Zenith Award in 2024.

The new album was recorded at Newtone Studio just outside of Oslo, in what the band describes as a deeply inspiring few days together with engineer Leif Johansen. Everything was recorded live in the same room, preserving the interaction, energy, and spontaneity between the three musicians.
