After Andreas Rotevatn released his first solo album, Av daude gror, last year, he received a lot of positive attention. Tor Hammerø from Nettavisen wrote in his review: "It grooves and sweats nonstop, and I think he has the potential to reach a rather large audience with this blend. There’s definitely a chance that advanced dance feet will be tempted into excesses along the way here."

Now, the legendary DJ Prins Thomas takes the already danceable material in an even more dance-friendly direction. Today he releases his remix of the track Kairos & Kronos. Andreas Rotevatn shares:

- It was so much fun to hear this remix when Prins Thomas sent it to me! Like some sort of Fleetwood Mac version of the track, or something like that. A perfect mix of electronic and acoustic. It was an honor that Prins Thomas wanted to remix my music. He is one of Norway’s great electronic pioneers and has been an inspiration for a long time.

Prins Thomas clearly puts his signature touch on the tracks, and Rotevatn couldn’t help but smile when he first heard his songs in their new electronic form. He continues:

- It’s a strange feeling to hear music you know so well, but through someone else’s creative lens. And with someone as skilled as Prins Thomas, you get remixes that not only have high creative value but also sound great in terms of mixing! My songs draw a lot of inspiration from dance music—in terms of harmony, dramaturgy, and soundscape. And when Prins Thomas turns them into pure dance tracks with a distinct, warm electronic sound, they gain a new dimension. They also work better on a dance floor and might even reach listeners who wouldn’t usually hear my album!

Andreas Rotevatn is, in many ways, a divided musician who nonetheless stands firm in this duality. On one side, he has a rural upbringing in Nordfjordeid; on the other, more than 10 years as an artist in the city. He has a love for functional and danceable music, despite an extensive education at several elite music schools. A Spellemann-nominated and award-winning composer, he has both broad appeal and strong streaming numbers. Lyrically, Rotevatn draws inspiration from the past, referencing Hávamál, Ivar Aasen, and the Bible, while simultaneously embracing modern sounds from synthesizers and drum machines. The acoustic and improvised meet the electronic and structured—somewhere in between, in symbiosis, is where Rotevatn thrives best!

Prins Thomas has worked as a producer, DJ, and remixer for several decades. He has been nominated for the Spellemann Awards multiple times and has millions of streams on Spotify. He was one of the pioneers behind Oslo disco, or space disco, which set the underground scene ablaze in the early 2000s. Together with Hans-Peter Lindstrøm and Todd Terje, he blended disco rhythms, modern drum machines, vintage synths, and effects into a wonderfully eclectic, electroacoustic, and danceable fusion.

Building Instrument returns with new sounds full of dreamy pop hooks, sparkling synth textures and beguiling lyrics about the moon, spirit, animals and the experience of simply being alive.14.3.2025 09:00:00 CET | Press release

Norwegian trio Building Instrument - Mari Kvien Brunvoll, Åsmund Weltzien, Øyvind Hegg-Lunde - releases their fourth album on Hubro today called "Månen, Armadillo". As the pop sensibility is filtered through an aesthetic of playful experiment, the gorgeous, brightly hued tunes and seductively shiny textures share house room with avant-garde sound-art. If you want to hear delicious ear candy intersected by spooky instrumental vignettes or a brief snippet of a car engine stalling, here’s where to find it. The result is a compulsively listenable album whose deceptively poppy surface unpeels to reveal a whole underworld of intensely-worked immersive improvisation.
