Erlend Apneseth presents "Spring" – First Single from Upcoming Album Song over Støv
Renowned Hardanger fiddle player Erlend Apneseth is set to release the first single from his upcoming album Song over Støv, which will be released on Hubro on April 4. The single Spring offers a glimpse into the grand musical work Apneseth has created alongside a handpicked ensemble of leading Norwegian musicians.

Originally commissioned for Oslo World and Riksscenen in 2023, the project blends elements of folk music, jazz, and contemporary music, while maintaining a strong connection to the Hardanger fiddle tradition. For this album, Apneseth has brought together a stellar lineup of Norwegian musicians, including Mats Eilertsen, Hans Hulbækmo, Veslemøy Narvesen, Selma French Bolstad, Helga Myhr, Rasmus Kjorstad, Henriette Eilertsen, Anja Lauvdal, Rolf-Erik Nystrøm, and Frode Haltli.
Apneseth talks about the single “Spring”:
"The track is based on a traditional ‘springar’ rhythm, which the title reflects. At the same time, the music has a youthful and fresh quality, much like the feeling of spring finally arriving after the long winter here where I live. In this band, there are three Hardanger fiddles in addition to my own, and this is one of the tracks where the instrument truly gets to shine."
Apneseth draws inspiration from his childhood, sensory travel experiences, and the diverse musical influences he encountered through Førdefestivalen. The album title reflects a dialogue between past and present, both personally and musically.
Song over Støv will have its release concert at Vossajazz 2025, and Apneseth is planning a tour in the fall of the same year.

Tapt musikk blir levende igjen – Olav Kiellands hardingfeleverk utgis for første gang11.4.2025 09:00:00 CEST | Pressemelding
