Share

4.7 million passengers traveled to and from Avinor's airports in October. This is an increase of 4 percent compared to October 2023. There is also a 4 percent increase in the number of passengers when looking at the figures for the year so far.

In October, there was an increase in both domestic and international travelers compared to October last year. The number of international travelers continues to increase the most, with a 6 percent growth in October. This is a growth we have seen for a while.

So far this year, the growth among international travelers is a whole 8 percent. The growth among domestic travelers is at 3 percent.

The overall traffic growth is 1 percent higher than the forecast for October, and 1 percent higher than the forecast for the year so far.

Fuller flights

-There was also an increase among domestic travelers in September, and the trend has been positive through October in this market as well. This means that there is a 2 percent increase domestically so far this year, says Gaute Skallerud Riise, Director of Traffic Development at Avinor.

-The growth is not due to a high influx of more flights, but simply fuller flights. This also applies to international traffic. This is a common trend internationally as well, as there is a lack of flight capacity in the aviation market in general. The shortage is particularly driven by delayed deliveries from Boeing and engine problems affecting certain airlines with Airbus aircraft in their fleet. This affects availability and the overall route offering, especially at Oslo Airport, which has a demanding development related to several other international hubs.

Flight movements

There were 56,696 commercial flight movements in October. This figure is unchanged compared to October last year. So far this year, there are 1 percent fewer flight movements compared to the same period in 2023.

The number of drone flights so far this year is higher than for the entire previous year In

October, 2,167 drone flights were reported in Ninox Drone. This is an increase of 35 percent compared to 2023. - Even though the autumn started with worse weather, the strong increase in the number of drone flights continues, says Mats Gjertsen, Head of the Drone Program at Avinor. -So far this year, there are 5,000 more flights than in the whole of 2023, says Gjertsen.
