Passenger traffic at the airports increased by 10 percent in April

4.15 million travelers used Avinor's airports in April. This is an increase of 10 percent compared to April last year.

The number of domestic travelers is particularly increasing, with a 14 percent growth. The number of international travelers also increased, by 5 percent. Overall, the total traffic is in line with the forecasts for the year.

The number of flight movements increased by 6 percent compared to April last year.

-The reason for the significant growth in domestic traffic in April and the slightly lower growth in international traffic is related to the fact that Easter fell in April last year. Easter is a period with fewer domestic travels and an increase in international travels, says Gate Skallerud Riise, Vice President Traffic Development at Avinor.

Riise further adds that the development in the cargo market continues to be strong, and there is a significant increase in goods transported through Oslo Airport compared to the same period last year: - For April, the volumes are up by 22 percent, or a total of 15,143 tons, while there has been a 15 percent increase, an additional 59,755 tons so far this year. This is in line with our strategy to attract more cargo volumes through our airports in order to strengthen accessibility to the Norwegian market for goods and passengers, rather than having goods flown in and out from other places in Europe and then transported by truck to and from Norway.

-The summer schedule for airlines started in the transition from March to April, and the volumes are therefore also increasing significantly as we enter a busy season for the travel industry. We note that airlines expect high demand throughout the summer, and Avinor will ensure that operations at our airports run smoothly so that travelers have a good experience at the airport, concludes Riise.

Passenger numbers and flight movements in April

2.5 million passengers traveled domestically in April, an increase of 14 percent from April last year.

The number of international travelers was 1.6 million, an increase of 5 percent from last year. In total, there are 10 percent more travelers than in April last year.

There were 62,675 flight movements in April. This is 6 percent more than in April last year.

New record in drone flights - more than 2,000 flights in April

In April, 2,117 drone flights were reported in Ninox Drone, Avinor's system for drone management.

-This is more than double compared to April last year, and it is the first time we have had over 2,000 flights in Ninox Drone in one month, says Mats Gjertsen, who leads Avinor's drone program.

-Warmer and better weather leads to more drone flights, and we still expect a significant increase in the use of Ninox Drone, says Gjertsen.
