The Norwegian jazz quartet Flukten releases their long-awaited second album.
With their first album «Velkommen håp», Flukten won a Norwegian Grammy in the jazz category. Now, four years later, they´re releasing their much anticipated second album titled «Flukten».

Today, Flukten is releasing their second studio album, once again showcasing some of the best Norwegian jazz has to offer. This time, more empowered by freedom, improvisation and the synergy among skilled jazz-musicians and friends.
- It has become an album that feels very much like 'us.´ Flukten's uniqueness lies in the strong interplay we have developed over time, says guitarist Marius Klovning.
The studio process was straightforward; Hanna Paulsberg (saxophone) and Marius Klovning (guitar) in the large recording room, Bárður R. Poulsen (bass) and Hans Hulbækmo (drums) in their respective spaces.
- We worked through the repertoire and experimented with different arrangements. When we recorded 'Velkommen håp,' we hadn't been playing together for so long. So this time we were more prepared, even though the material might have been looser and freer than last time, drummer Hans explains.
The album also includes several live recordings, capturing the band in its natural habitat. It is sometimes soft and tender, and sometimes hard-hitting. The dynamic interplay the quartet has developed, is unique and has resulted in close bonds both musically and personally. The songs feel freer and more improvised than before but are still based on composed, solid melodies. The compositions give the performers room to shape the material themselves. Hans adds:
- It's difficult to pinpoint sources of inspiration. I'm probably quite inspired by Ornette Coleman, Henry Threadgill, and Paul Motian. I´m inspired by the atmosphere their music creates, or perhaps my perception of them. Often, the songs come about as I hum. Often while out walking, sometimes with the help of a piano or synth. I make music pretty much all the time, and it usually fits with Flukten. I'm more focused on melodies than chords.
For the follow-up to "Velkommen håp," Flukten once again chose to record in the same studio and collaborate with technician Mike Hartung. The new album reflects the quartet's evolution and was recorded by musicians brimming with energy.
"Flukten" is released on CD, LP, and digital platforms. Concerts are scheduled throughout Norway in the fall of 2024, including performances at the Oslo Jazz Festival.

FLUKTEN (Hanna Paulsberg, Hans Hulbækmo, Marius Klovning, Bárður Reinert Poulsen) is a Norwegian jazz quartet, with members from Hanna Paulsberg Concept, Atomic, Moskus, GURLS, Wako, Espen Berg Trio, Hullyboo, Skadedyr and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. Their debut album Velkommen håp from 2021, was very well received and earned them a Norwegian Grammy in the category of jazz.
