Uno-X establishes a Norwegian professional cycling team

(Oslo, Norway, April 2, 2019) – Uno-X Norge AS, the Norwegian subsidiary of the energy company Uno-X Energi, today announced that its cycling team, Uno-X Norwegian Development Team, is applying for UCI license as Professional Continental Team. The company hopes to establish a framework for facilitating rider development, both on and off the bike.
Passion for development and cycling
Uno-X has a long history of involvement in Norwegian cycling and is the current owner and operator of the Uno-X Norwegian Development Team at the UCI Continental level. The team is now in its third season with Kurt Asle Arvesen as Sports Manager. Former Norwegian national team manager, Stig Kristiansen, joined as the team’s Sports Director in 2018. Uno-X Norwegian Development Team is an ambassador for the Norwegian non-profit life skills organization MOT.
“Development and cycling are two of our main passions in Uno-X. We have now built an athletic and organizational structure that makes it possible for us to establish ourselves as the first professional men's road cycling team in Norway," says Jens Haugland, Head of Cycling and CEO of Uno-X Norge AS.
Long-term commitment
On the team’s ambitions, Haugland states: "We want to keep most of the riders we have today, however, we believe it will be necessary to strengthen the team further to ensure that we can perform at an even higher level of cycling. This includes looking to Denmark when we put together our team for 2020."
Through this effort, Uno-X is making a long-term commitment to develop the next generation of professional cyclists in Scandinavia.
"With our fueling stations across Norway and Denmark, this effort fits Uno-X's sports and business profile. We are making it clear that we intend to be in it for the long-run” concludes Haugland.
The team will continue under the name Uno-X Development Team, also in the 2020 season.
