SailPoint Names Kevin Hansel Chief Information Officer

SailPoint, the undisputed leader in identity governance, today appointed Kevin Hansel to Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the fast-growing company. In that role, Hansel will oversee the company’s IT organization and have responsibility for driving IT strategy and innovation while scaling the company’s information system capabilities in support of SailPoint’s continued rapid business expansion.

Hansel joins SailPoint at a pivotal time in SailPoint’s growth trajectory as it completes 13 consecutive quarters of profitability and takes the leadership reigns in the fast-growing worldwide identity governance and administration market. Given the increasing importance of identity as a business enabler driven by IT for all organizations, Hansel will continue to make information security a top priority at SailPoint while driving new IT initiatives to help further enhance the company’s leadership position in data access governance and identity and access management.

Hansel has over 20 years of IT leadership experience working with a wide spectrum of organizations, from startups to large growth stage companies. Most recently, Hansel was Executive Director of IT at AT&T Wi-Fi Services, formerly Wayport, a national provider of one of the largest branded Wi-Fi hotspot footprints in the world. In that role, he managed a large IT organization supporting thousands of systems spread across multiple data and network centers that process billions of global Wi-Fi connections per year.

Prior to AT&T, Hansel managed the IT organization at another Austin-based startup, Applied Science Fiction, which was acquired by Eastman Kodak. Before that, he held IT leadership positions at Power Computing Corporation, HP Inc. and Convex Computer Corporation. Hansel holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
