When the outside temperature is over seven degrees, summer tyres are a safe choice: they feature a tougher rubber compound that provides better braking distances, lower fuel consumption, a minimal level of rolling resistance and greater driving stability. When changing to summer tyres the tread depth should be checked, alongside with air pressure and the age and condition of the tyres. Experts, such as those from the German automobile club ADAC, recommend a minimum tread depth of three millimetres for summer tyres.
