To build the new Mo i Rana Airport
Avinor and AF Gruppen have entered into a collaborative contract for design and construction of the new airport in Mo i Rana. The parties have gone through a collaborative phase to optimize technical solutions and construction implementation, and have now reached an agreement for phase 2, the actual construction of the airport.
The project aims to achieve BREEAM Infrastructure certification at the "Very Good" level. The contract value for Phase 2 is approximately NOK 3,200 million excluding VAT and options.
“We are very pleased to have activated the entire scope of the contract for the construction of a new airport on Helgeland and look forward to further co-operation with such a solid and competent partner as AF Gruppen,” says Thorgeir Landevaag, VP of Avinor.
The new airport in Mo i Rana will be located in Fagerlia, just east of downtown Mo i Rana. The contract includes all earthworks, runway construction, technical infrastructure, terminal buildings and operational buildings. The necessary infrastructure such as roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and water and sewage systems for the airport are also part of the contract. The preparational work has already begun and is expected to continue until medio 2026.
"In collaboration together with Avinor we have found the best solutions for the construction of the airport, and we are excited to embark on the next phase of the project. AF Gruppen has extensive experience and expertise from various projects at Norwegian airports. We are looking forward to the construction phase and, together with Avinor, delivering a complete new airport to the region," said Amund Tøftum, CEO of AF Gruppen.
