Stian Carstensen and Mike Patton release new single!

"Hydrocephalus Epilogue" is a single release from Stian Carstensen's forthcoming album "Musical Sanatorium", which explores the world of odd rhythms within Balkan music with the tonal language of European classical music. Contributing artists include talents such as Mike Patton, Ola Kvernberg, Jacob Collier, Todd Terje, Jarle Vespestad, Finn Guttormsen, Audun Sandvik, Atle Sponberg, Bjarne Magnus Jensen, Sidsel Walstad, Torbjørn Dyrud, Pål Hausken, Gabriel Carstensen Øien, Finn Guttormsen and Marinette Tonning-Olsen. The album will be released on October 22, 2021.
To pen a lyric worthy of such a multifaceted vocalist of Mike Patton's caliber, Stian turned to his long-time lyricist, Simon Dancaster (Abbath), who crafts a twisted tale of Hydrocephalus' release of creative demons. One twist never being sufficient for these folks, the lyric was then translated into Italian by Mia Wallace (Nervosa, Abbath) and beautifully rendered, in Italian naturally, by Mike Patton's distinctive vocal range. The song is further enhanced by Ola Kvernberg on strings and synthesizer, Gabriel Carstensen Øien on timpanis, and Stian on guitar, electric guitar, banjo, pedal steel, kaval, and accordion.
Cover art by renowned artist Dave Mckean completes the coterie of avant-suave connoisseurs to present to you this weird and wonderful release, "Hydrocephalus Epilogue".
Stian Carstensen is the renowned multi-talented musician and leading light of the critically acclaimed Farmers Market. He is a multiple prize-winning recipient of the music industry awards and has collaborated with several prominent artists on numerous projects. He was recently nominated for the prestigious Nordic Council Music Prize 2021. Musically he is recognized for groundbreaking work blending different styles and traditions to push the boundaries of what is considered feasible.
Stian Carstensen released the 1st single from the album on May 21, titled "Hippocampus Serenade". The single was released alongside an epic music video that premiered on Norway's National TV channel NRK on the esteemed show "Hovedscenen". It is a cinematic piece of art straddling the liminal boundaries between dream and nightmare. The video has had over 80.000 views and over 500 shares on social media since its release.
