Statens budgetunderskott blev 221 miljarder kronor 2020

Statens betalningar, tillika statens budgetsaldo, resulterade i ett underskott på 221 miljarder kronor för 2020. Riksgäldens prognos från oktober var ett underskott på 256 miljarder kronor.

Coronapandemin hade stora negativa effekter på den ekonomiska utvecklingen under 2020. Den ekonomiska nedgången ledde till både lägre skatteinkomster och högre utgifter för staten. Dessutom genomfördes finanspolitiska stödåtgärder såsom korttidsarbete för att dämpa pandemins effekter på samhällsekonomin. Sammantaget innebar det att statens budget­saldo efter fyra år av överskott vände till ett underskott 2020. Underskottet landade på 221 miljarder kronor 2020, jämfört med ett överskott på 112 miljarder kronor 2019.

Statsskulden uppgick till 1 280 miljarder kronor i slutet av december vilket var 168 miljarder kronor högre än i december 2019.

Underskott för staten i december

Statens betalningar resulterade i ett underskott på 125,9 miljarder kronor i december. Riksgäldens prognos var ett underskott på 131,9 miljarder kronor. Det förklaras främst av att skatteinkomsterna var ungefär 7 miljarder kronor högre än beräknat, vilket i huvudsak beror på högre inbetalningar av kompletterande skatt. Sammanlagt under perioden oktober till december var skatteinkomsterna cirka 22 miljarder kronor högre än prognos. Det beror främst på högre inbetalningar av kompletterande skatt än väntat.

Riksgäldens nettoutlåning till myndigheter m.fl. var 1,7 miljarder kronor högre än prognos i december. Det beror på högre utlåning till bland annat CSN och Försvarets materielverk.

Räntebetalningarna på statsskulden var 2,7 miljarder kronor lägre än prognos.
