Metallica and San Francisco Symphony’s September 6 & 8, 2019 S&M2 concerts were historic on multiple levels: They served as the grand opening of San Francisco’s Chase Center, reunited the band and Symphony for the first time since the 1999 performances captured on the Grammy-winning S&M album, and featured the first-ever symphonic renditions of songs written and released since those original S&M shows.
The sold out shows were rapturously received by the 40,000 fans who traveled from nearly 70 countries, as well as the media: Rolling Stone raved “the group proved that anything was possible,” Variety noted an atmosphere “buzzing with excitement,” while the Mercury News witnessed "a concert that fans will be talking about for decades to come,” and Consequence of Sound hailed "a true celebration of Metallica and their musical prowess.”
On August 28, S&M2 comes to life once more with the release of Metallica and San Francisco Symphony: S&M2. S&M2 will be available in a staggering array of formats, ranging from a digital album on all leading streaming outlets, to 4LP vinyl, 2CD, DVD and Blu-ray versions, to a limited edition color vinyl 4LP + 2CD + Blu-ray Deluxe Box featuring sheet music, guitar picks, poster and more, all the way up to a Metallica.com exclusive Super Deluxe Box, limited to 500 copies, each featuring actual sheet music used by the Symphony during the shows and hand-signed by all four band members (in addition to including everything in the Deluxe Box). With this long-awaited Blackened Recordings release, S&M2 can be fully experienced by others beyond those who squeezed into the Chase Center over those two unforgettable evenings.
S&M2 is a landmark release in the Metallica catalogue, both sonically and visually. Produced by Greg Fidelman with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, the S&M2 live album captures more than two and a half hours of James, Lars, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo joining forces with the nearly 80-strong SF Symphony, legendary Musical Director of the orchestra Michael Tilson Thomas, and conductor Edwin Outwater. The concert film is a brand-new edit done by Joe Hutching (Through The Never) and both the audio and visuals have been taken to the next level from the October 2019 theatrical version that played in over 3,700 cinemas worldwide

Marcus & Martinus slipper «Den fyrste song», en ny og personlig tolkning av Herborg Kråkeviks klassiker, fremført i helgens episode av «Hver gang vi møtes». Låten markerer nok et sterkt norskspråklig øyeblikk for Marcus & Martinus i årets sesong. Hør låten HER. Låten fanget duoens oppmerksomhet, med vakre melodier og en helt spesiell følelse som gjorde valget enkelt. Med på laget har de fått med seg ingen andre enn Katastrofe, kjent fra superhiten «Elektrisk». Å få fremføre låten for Herborg Kråkevik selv ble et høydepunkt for duoen: - "Hun lo og smilte mye, så vi tror hun likte den. Det var veldig gøy å gjøre «Den fyrste song» for henne, vi er veldig glade for den fine responsen fra Herborg", sier Marcus og Martinus. Fjorårets The Voice-vinner Andrea Bredesen slipper sin første helt egenskrevne låt, «Sterkere enn du vet», den 23. januar. Singelen er en ærlig og sårbar fortelling om mobbing, ensomhet og det å finne egen styrke, formidlet gjennom et nært og ærlig språk. «Jeg var barnet du gikk forbi / lo klokka tre, men gråt klokka ti». Andrea setter ord på følelsen av å være usett, av å skjule smerte bak et smil, og av å måtte lære seg å stå støtt på egen hånd. Samtidig handler låten om motstandskraft - om hvordan mørke erfaringer kan forme verdighet og indre styrke. “Jeg har skrevet en nær og personlig låt om hvordan jeg hadde det i deler av oppveksten. Jeg har prøvd å sette ord på hvordan det er å føle seg utenfor, og det å føle at man står alene” sier Andrea Bredesen. I refrenget løftes budskapet tydelig: «For jeg er sterkere enn du vet / mørket lærte meg verdighet». Her finner hun ro i sårbarheten og lar stillheten bli et rom for vekst. 23. januar slipper Victoria Nadine en akustisk versjon av en av hennes hittil største hits, “Nerve». I den nye versjonen får låten et mer nedstrippet og vokalfokusert uttrykk, hvor sårbarhet, tekst og melodisk styrke kommer tydeligere frem.

Når Marit Larsen skal tolkes i andre episode av Hver gang vi møtes, fremfører Marcus & Martinus sin versjon av «Don’t Save Me»: «Ta meg tilbake». Espen Lind, Marit Larsen, Herborg Kråkevik, Synne Vo, Musti, André Jensen (Hagle) og duoen Marcus og Martinus utgjør artistrekken i den 16. sesongen av «Hver gang vi møtes». I vakre, frodige omgivelser på Hadeland har de skapt nye, magiske musikkøyeblikk. «Don’t Save Me» er låten som umiddelbart fanget duoens oppmerksomhet, og som de har hatt et forhold til siden de var yngre. I sin tolkning har Marcus & Martinus valgt å snu perspektivet i teksten og fortelle historien fra et mannlig ståsted. Resultatet er en nær og sår versjon, fremført med stor respekt for originalen. Responsen fra Marit Larsen var veldig positiv – til stor lettelse for en nervøs, men stolt duo.
