(Vienna, Austria)On 20 May, leading European intellectuals will discuss propositions and possible solutions for Europe, the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Russia. On the initiative of ERSTE Foundation in cooperation with the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), the aim is to make a future-oriented and value-based contribution to peace solutions that focuses on Europe as a whole.

Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba are expected to deliver the opening remarks (both online). 
The five moderated dialogues by two speakers will be complemented by discussions with some 20 experts:

- How should Ukraine be rebuilt after the war?
- What lessons can we draw from the Balkans?
- Is it Central Europe’s moment in Europe right now?
- How will the European Union be transformed?
- What will the future be for Russia?

(Berlin, Germany) A strong start to 2026. PLAN-B NET ZERO enters into a partnership with the Aachen-based environmental scale-up everwave. With the guiding principle ‘1 euro = 1 kilogram of waste’, the partners recovered 10,000 kilograms of waste from rivers in Cambodia at the start of the initiative Around 11 million tonnes of plastic waste enter the oceans every year. Aachen, Germany, 18 February 2026 – Grünenthal announced today that the first healthy volunteers have been enrolled in a Phase I trial of its voltage-gated sodium channel (NaV) 1.8 inhibitor. The orally administered investigational medicine aims to provide a non-opioid therapy option across a range of acute and chronic pain conditions. Aachen – FEV has published new analysis results on the economic efficiency of electrified commercial vehicles as part of an internal research program. The evaluation of extensive techno-economic data shows: depending on the driving cycle, through trucks with range extender architecture (REEV/Hybrid BEV) the total cost of ownership (TCO) can be reduced by up to 33 percent compared to conventional diesel trucks – while also significantly reducing CO₂ emissions. Even in the most unfavorable long-haul scenario, the TCO declined by approximately 14 percent.
