Havila Voyages launches new travel weather page
9.7.2026 10:27:40 CEST | Havila Voyages | Press release
The Norwegian coastal cruise company Havila Voyages is expanding its range of services. A new webpage featuring a weather forecast and a packing list is designed to help guests prepare for a trip along the Norwegian coast. After entering their individual travel details, guests can immediately see what the weather will be like at each of the 34 ports along the coastal route – precisely on the day they are due to be there.

Norway’s coastline is the second longest in the world. The weather can be just as changeable as the landscapes are varied. On the coastal route between Bergen in the south and Kirkenes in the north, travellers need to be prepared for a range of weather conditions to ensure they can enjoy their journey with Havila Voyages to the full.
“The challenge for many of our guests is that they not only have to pack for a single destination. Whilst warm, sunny weather may apply in the south of the route, further north it may be more likely to be cold and wintry. Weather changes that happen in a matter of minutes are also not uncommon at sea. Our new weather page prepares our guests for exactly that – without them having to painstakingly piece together the weather conditions at the various ports themselves,” explains Mette Øyen, Chief Marketing Director at Havila Voyages.
Data from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute
The forecast data is provided in real time by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET). The first 9 days show a detailed forecast for the time the ship is in port. Days 10–21 show a long-term daily outlook (temperature range and expected rainfall) – useful for packing, but less accurate.
Packing list based on personalised travel weather
As well as the map overview, which illustrates the various local forecasts and displays them at a glance, guests can also view their personalised travel weather in a detailed list. The next step is an interactive packing list based on individual data, complete with a checklist function; ranging from sun cream and a sleep mask for the midnight sun that shines even at night, to woollen underwear, a power bank and gloves for extended Northern Lights photo sessions on deck.
“Our aim is for our guests to take home as many wonderful memories of their trip as possible. And, of course, part of the charm of our beautiful coastline up here is our quintessentially Norwegian weather,” Øyen concludes.

About Havila Voyages
Havila Voyages is a Norwegian shipping company that sails the classic coastal voyage between Bergen and Kirkenes with the Norwegian coast's most environmentally friendly ships.
The four new ships are loaded with one the world's largest battery pack ever installed on passenger ships and can sail for up to four hours without noise or emissions through vulnerable areas. The batteries are charged with clean hydropower at shore, and when the batteries are low we switch to natural gas which cuts CO2 by around 35 %.
The hull is specially designed for maximum energy efficiency, and excess heat from cooling water and sea used for heating on board. On the menu are locally made dishes from local producers, and all unnecessary plastic is avoided. We are already exceeding the authorities' requirements for cutting emission, and we have set sail with zero emissions as the future target.
Havila Voyages is part of the Havila Group that dates back to the 1950s. It all started when the founder, Per Sævik, bought his first fishing boat in his teens. From fishing and herring fishing, Havila is now a group operating in shipping technology, offshore, transport and tourism.
