KONGSBERG wins NOK 16 billion contract to deliver Counter-UAS solutions in Poland
30.1.2026 09:17:09 CET | KONGSBERG | Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace | Press release
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (‘KONGSBERG’) and consortium partner Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) have signed a contract with the Polish Armaments Agency for the delivery of Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) to protect the country against the evolving threats from unmanned aerial platforms.

The contract is worth about NOK 16 billion to KONGSBERG. The programme, called SAN CUAS, entails the delivery of 18 CUAS batteries.
KONGSBERG and PGZ bring significant experience and complementary capabilities to SAN CUAS. The batteries will include a wide variety of effectors, including 35 mm, 30 mm, 12.7 mm guns, as well as missiles and interceptor drones and other means to counter aerial threats.
“This programme confirms Poland’s position as a regional hub for counter-drone innovation and strengthens KONGSBERGs’ positions as one of Europe’s leading providers of anti-drone solutions,” said Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. “The collaboration between KONGSBERG and PGZ demonstrates the companies’ commitment and support to NATO-aligned industrial cooperation to strengthen the European security landscape and anti-drone shield.”
PGZ subcontractor Advanced Protection Systems’ (APS) tailored command and control architecture will tie these sensors and effectors together and make SAN CUAS a highly capable system that is fully integrated with Polish national air defence capabilities.
As part of the deliveries, KONGSBERG is preparing to invest in increasing its manufacturing capacity and capabilities in Poland, strengthening the company’s ability to deliver higher volumes of defence systems and technologies.
PROTECTOR
The system is based on KONGSBERG’s PROTECTOR family of weapon systems: the Medium Caliber Turret (MCT30) and Remote Weapon Station. The MCT30 is in full-rate production and the turret design characteristics: unmanned, light weight and fully digitalised, makes it well suited in a CUAS role.
The flexibility of KONGSBERG’s remote weapon stations enables the integration of various CUAS effectors. For the SAN program the RWS primary weapon will be the 70mm guided missiles. In addition, KONGSBERG will work closely with APS and PGZ to field flexible sensor and effector integration platforms for sub-system and vehicle integrations enabling distributed sensor and effector operations.
All PROTECTOR remote weapon systems are CUAS capable. KONGSBERG has to date delivered more than 20,000 PROTECTOR systems to more than 30 countries.
