Norway strengthens its role as Europe’s energy partner, record-high gas exports in 2025
2025 was yet another year of high exports of Norwegian natural gas to Europe. 114.9 billion standard cubic meters of gas flowed through the integrated transport system, from the Norwegian continental shelf to European recipients. This corresponds to 1271 TWh of energy, enough to cover large parts of Europe’s energy needs.

Norwegian gas accounts for about 30 percent of Europe’s natural gas imports and covers around 9 percent of the EU’s total energy consumption. Norway confirms its position as a stable and reliable energy supplier at a time when energy security is crucial.
High regularity and good cooperation
“This reliability is the result of everyone working together on the Norwegian continental shelf. Well-planned maintenance operations, stable production from the fields, and high regularity in the operation of pipelines, processing plants, and terminals have been key. Together, we work hard every day to deliver the gas Europe needs,” says Alfred Skår Hansen, Director of System Operations at Gassco.
In 2025, Gassco coordinated and optimized a large number of projects at facilities in operation — both onshore, offshore, and on the seabed. Many of these have continued with almost full delivery and minimal impact on gas transport. The result is a record-high transport availability of 99.6 percent.
“Such results do not create themselves. At Gassco, we always achieve results together with others, and in 2025 this cooperation went especially well. We are proud of that,” concludes Hansen.
