Route news: Aer Lingus launches flights between Dublin and Oslo
These are great news for travel-loving Norwegians. The travel time is under two and a half hours, and the opportunities for experiences are endless.

Dublin is a lively and charming city with plenty to see and do. Trinity College is famous for its beautiful campus, and the Book of Kells Library is one of the most photographed places in Dublin. In the Temple Bar district, visitors can stroll through narrow streets, explore centuries-old pubs, and watch performances by traditional Irish musicians. There are also excellent opportunities for golf, as well as tours and excursions filled with fascinating Irish history.
Aer Lingus – a new addition at Norwegian airports
“Aer Lingus has not flown to Scandinavia since March 2016 and has never operated to or from Norway before,” says Ulv Elbirk, Director Route Development, Asia & Americas at Avinor. “The airline launched its Tromsø service on December 3, and will begin operating to Oslo on May 1 next year. We see this as a great addition to the route offerings in both Tromsø and Oslo, and we look forward to welcoming Aer Lingus.”
Welcoming Irish travellers to Oslo
“We are delighted that Aer Lingus is opening a direct connection between Dublin and Oslo in 2026. This route gives us a fantastic opportunity to welcome Irish travellers to Oslo – a city that combines world-class art with close proximity to nature, outstanding culinary experiences, and countless cultural attractions for every taste. We look forward to strengthening the ties between Ireland and Norway, and to showcasing everything Oslo has to offer. Welcome to Oslo!” says Christian Lunde, CEO of VisitOSLO.
Even better connections to the United States with Dublin as a hub
Aer Lingus is part of the IAG Group (British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, among others) and offers an excellent route network to North America from Dublin. There will be particularly good connections to New York, Boston, and Washington.
Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer at Aer Lingus, said:
“We are pleased to add Oslo to the Aer Lingus network with a new direct flight from Dublin. From world-class museums to waterfront walks and a vibrant city life, Oslo has something for everyone. This route also improves connections for travellers heading to the US via our Dublin hub, making Norway’s capital closer than ever.”
