Kongsberg Digital and Petroleum Development Oman Sign Agreement for Deployment of AI-Powered Digital Twin
8.9.2025 10:18:26 CEST | KONGSBERG | Press release
OSLO, 8 September – Kongsberg Digital, a leading provider of industrial software headquartered in Oslo, Norway, has entered a strategic partnership with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman, to deliver an enterprise AI-powered digital twin. The agreement marks a significant step in driving value creation through close collaboration and industrial intelligence.

PDO has selected Kongsberg Digital’s Industrial Work Surface solution Kognitwin® as part of its drive to create safer operations, improve production levels and ensure a competitive cost base. Integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), Kognitwin® unifies and contextualises operational (OT) and enterprise (IT) data to cover end-to-end workflows across operation and maintenance.
With the ambition to start deploying all digital twins within this year, the partnership will draw on Kongsberg Digital's proven ability to scale industrial software quickly across complex facilities and PDO's deep business understanding to support the flow of industrial intelligence across end-to-end work processes.
“Collaboration and co-innovation are at the heart of this agreement,” says Kongsberg Digital CEO Shane McArdle. “PDO is leading the way in shaping the future of work by investing in industrial intelligence that directly addresses their operational priorities. We are very excited to work with a partner who shares our vision and speed, matching our ambitions to be the platform for rewiring how work is performed across this industry.”
The partnership also highlights Kongsberg Digital's strategic expansion in the Middle East, where the company is already working with other major operators. With a strong track record working alongside global industry leaders such as Shell, Chevron, and other energy majors, Kongsberg Digital is positioned as a front runner in addressing the growing demand for digital transformation across the region.
“The need for safer operations, higher production, and competitive cost structures is stronger than ever in the current energy market,” added Ahmed Al Abri, AI and Digital Transformation Task Force Lead in PDO. “Through our partnership with Kongsberg Digital, we are confident in our ability to meet these challenges while embracing new ways of working powered by AI and industrial intelligence.”
