Saxophonist and composer Hanna Paulsberg joins forces with acclaimed vocalist Elin Rosseland for Maria, the first single from the forthcoming album Himmel over Hav (Sky over Sea). 

"Maria is a tribute to pianist and composer Maria Kannegaard, who has been a major inspiration for me and many musicians of my generation,” says Paulsberg.

The track unfolds with warmth, openness, and a sense of anticipation, enriched by Rosseland’s voice – adding a fresh, expressive color to the quartet’s musical palette.

For the past 15 years, Hanna Paulsberg has been one of the most central voices on the Norwegian jazz scene, known for her genuine and warm expression. A sought-after musician with remarkable range, she moves effortlessly between the pop/soul/jazz trio GURLS, the award-winning quartet Flukten, free jazz, folk-inspired projects, and collaborations with legends such as Chick Corea and Karin Krog. Through it all, Hanna Paulsberg Concept has remained her musical heart and home.

Elin Rosseland
Elin Rosseland (b. 1959) is one of Norway’s most distinctive jazz vocalists, composers, and bandleaders. A graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music, she has shaped the country’s jazz landscape for more than four decades through projects including Fair Play, Søyr, and ESE (with Sidsel Endresen and Eldbjørg Raknes), as well as collaborations with Christian Wallumrød, Knut Riisnæs, and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra.

Recipient of the Radka Toneff Memorial Award (2009) and the Buddy Award (2023), Rosseland is celebrated for her lyrical approach to improvisation, using her voice as an instrument in close dialogue with her fellow musicians.
