Two of Norway’s top vocalists deliver the collaboration we’ve all been waiting for – Jarle Bernhoft and Adam Douglas join forces in a soulful and mysterious soundscape on “When Can We Leave Here?”  which is out today!

The song explores a relationship that has reached its end – a clear crossroads. With heavy hearts, everything comes to a halt. In the sudden stillness, they turn around and reflect on the journey. How did we end up here? How can we move forward together? When can we leave – or work to get to a new place, together or alone?

Adam Douglas shares what it meant to work with a fellow artist he deeply admires:

- Jarle is an artist and human being of the highest class! First and foremost, I’m a true fan of everything he does musically. I knew instantly he would understand the vision behind this song. I was over the moon when he said yes. It’s especially exciting and unique to do this as a male duet – that doesn’t happen very often! He’s also a great friend, which made singing together on this track all the more special.

Jarle Bernhoft has also looked forward to working with Adam Douglas. The two share deep roots in the same musical soil. He says:

- Working with Adam has been like a warm spring breeze, really. He and I have probably drunk from the same well – we share so many musical reference points. I’ve known of Adam for many years and always thought he seemed genuine, both musically and personally. Time and again, he’s sung, played, or said something I completely relate to. This song feels to me like a sketch of an island oasis in open seas – a desire for, and a proposal of, a safe harbor amidst the chaos of the world. And it speaks to me personally, as someone who rarely finds peace in one place. I often feel the impulse to pull up roots and move on.

Adam Douglas' upcoming album Companions is set for release this spring. The production is playful and full of character. The rhythm section was recorded live with talented musicians Douglas frequently works with both live and in the studio. Alongside his own guitar and vocal tracks, Douglas is joined by Ruben Dalen (drums), Ruben Fredheim Oma (bass), Thor Erik Fjellvang (keys), and Aurora Amalie Heimdal (backing vocals). Drummer Ruben Dalen also served as recording engineer, co-producer, and mixer. The album was mastered by Morgan Nicolaysen.

The single “When Can We Leave Here?” takes the listener on a reflective journey – both musically and lyrically. Bluesy tones, soft melodies, and existential musings delivered by two of Norway’s most accomplished musicians in their respective genres.
