HEKATE (NO) is a vocal trio featuring Malin Alander, Silje Risdal Liahagen, and Synnøve Brøndbo Plassen—three singers who have all distinguished themselves as solo artists on the Norwegian music scene. Their debut album, Evigheten forestår, will be released on Heilo on June 13, 2025, with Martin Langlie as producer. The first track revealed from the album is the single Adam uti Paradis, out today.

Slåttetralling has deep roots in Norway, and after years as an underappreciated part of folk music, this vocal tradition has experienced a renaissance in recent decades. The album consists of slåttetralling from different regions of the country, with improvisation as a key element. The three voices in the trio are both distinct and complementary, creating a dynamic soundscape with a broad spectrum of timbres.

Hekate was born from a desire to highlight slåttetralling and a clear vision of song as the backbone of dance celebrations. With the goal of creating an ecstatic atmosphere for both dancers and listeners, they have crafted their own universe, driven by intense interplay and energy.

By drawing inspiration from the powerful, feminine energy historically associated with slåttetralling and the strong sense of unity in vocal harmonization, the trio has conjured a potent musical brew—uncompromising folk singing in a club setting.

Adam uti Paradis is a traditional reinlender from Agder, learned from recordings by Tom Willy Rustad. Featuring an unusual lyric about Adam in paradise eating a half-rotten pig, the trio employs repetitive motifs and improvisation to create a danceable and powerful version of the tune.

Tapt musikk blir levende igjen – Olav Kiellands hardingfeleverk utgis for første gang11.4.2025 09:00:00 CEST | Pressemelding
