As tradition dictates, the travel industry celebrated itself at the beginning of the year with the Grand Travel Awards. Like last year, the event was held at Wallmans in Oslo. During the awards ceremony on Thursday evening, winners were announced across multiple travel categories. Finalists were selected by a nomination committee, and employees from Norwegian travel agencies and tour operators voted for the winners.

In the category “Ferry Company of the Year Operating in or to Norway,” Havila Voyages claimed the prize for the second consecutive year, competing against Color Line, DFDS Seaways, FjordLine, and Hurtigruten.

"Winning this award for the second year in a row, against such well-established and renowned brands, and being recognized by colleagues in our own industry, is something we value immensely," says CEO Bent Martini of Havila Voyages.

"It’s wonderful that the travel industry has an evening to celebrate itself, and it was a very enjoyable event where we had the opportunity to meet colleagues from across the sector."

Norway’s travel industry continues to experience growth, both from international travelers and domestic tourists.

"The travel industry is a key contributor to value creation in Norway, providing jobs from north to south. At the same time, we offer people from around the world the chance to experience our beautiful and expansive country," Martini concludes.

The nomination committee consisted of:

  • Tom Andersson – Travel News
  • Terje Grue – Emirates Airlines Norway
  • Karen Tucker – Royal Caribbean International
  • Per-Arne Tuftin – Norwegian Travel Association (Norsk Reiseliv)
  • Terje Berge – Finn Reise
  • Kristin Krohn Devold – NHO Reiseliv
  • Audun Pettersen – Virke
