Hainan Airlines Resumes Direct Flights Between Beijing and Oslo
Oslo, [01/02/2024] – Hainan Airlines (HU) announces the resumption of its direct flights between Beijing (PEK) and Oslo Airport (OSL) starting March 22, 2025. This marks an important milestone for Norwegian tourism, the seafood industry, and the connection between Norway and China.

The route will operate as a seasonal service until October 25th with three weekly departures (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday), serviced by an Airbus A330-300. The aircraft has a capacity of 292 seats of which 32 are business class, meeting the needs of both passengers and cargo. With direct flights, this will be the fastest route between Norway and China, enhancing access to one of Norway’s most important international markets.
The Value of Direct Flights for Norway and China
“This route will provide a much-needed connection to China and strengthen Norwegian tourism, business, and seafood exports. The increasing trend of Chinese tourism to Norway is positive, and this direct flight will make it even easier for Chinese tourists to experience the best Norway has to offer,” says Ulv Elbirk, Director of Route Development at Avinor.

Hainan Airlines previously operated this route from May to October 2019, but flights were suspended due to the pandemic. The resumption marks a significant restoration of connections between the two countries. The route will not only benefit tourism and cultural exchange but also play a central role in Norway’s seafood industry, as cargo is a key component of the service.
With improved travel conditions and growing demand for connections to China, the route is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening economic and cultural cooperation between Norway and China.
