Good passenger growth in September
11.10.2024 12:00:00 CEST | The Avinor Group | Press release
4.8 million passengers traveled to and from Avinor's airports in September. This is an increase of 7 percent compared to September 2023. So far this year, there have been 39 million travelers at our airports, which is 4 percent more than the same period in 2023.

In September, there was an increase in both domestic and international travelers compared to September last year. The largest increase is among international travelers, with significant 9 percent. The growth among domestic travelers is 6 percent.
-The growth among international travelers is still strong. It has been like this for a while. But in September, we saw that the growth in domestic traffic also picked up compared to previous months, says Gaute Skallerud Riise, Vice President Traffic Development at Avinor.
Fuller flights
-While we see 6 percent more domestic travelers, we see a 1 percent decrease in the airlines' seat capacity. The load factor is thus 4 percent higher than in September last year. So, the airlines are filling their planes more, says Skallerud Riise.
So far this year, domestic passenger growth is at 2 percent.
Growth in the north
The growth in domestic traffic is particularly strong at the larger airports in Northern Norway. The same airports also have strong growth among international travelers.
Flight movements
There were 57,078 commercial flight movements in September. This is 2 percent more than in September last year. There have been 1 percent fewer flight movements so far this year compared to the same period in 2023.
Continued significant increase in drone flights
2,895 drone flights were reported in Ninox Drone, Avinor's drone management system.
- The strong increase in drone flights continues, says Mats Gjertsen, head of Avinor's drone program. -So far this year, 19,384 drone plans have been reported. This is a 75 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
