Pixii expands into the Indian market with office in New Delhi

Del

New Delhi, India – Pixii, a leading provider of battery-based energy storage solutions, is pleased to announce its expansion into the Indian market with the opening of a new office in New Delhi. This strategic move underscores Pixii's commitment to supporting India's ambitious energy transition goals, driven by a rapidly growing economy and strong climate commitments.

India is at the forefront of the global green transition, with plans to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and reduce energy intensity per unit of GDP by 45 percent. With its vast population and economic growth, the country is poised to play a critical role in the global energy landscape.

“India’s commitment to sourcing 50 percent of its energy from non-fossil fuels by 2030 highlights the crucial need for significant investments in both energy production and storage to address the variability of renewable sources like solar and wind. This presents a tremendous opportunity for Pixii’s modular and scalable energy storage solutions,” said Kenneth Bodahl, CEO of Pixii.

Current estimates suggest that India will require between 160 to 182 GWh of storage by 2030.

Local production plans

The New Delhi office is now operational, and Pixii plans to expand its local team in alignment with the growth of its commercial activities.

“We already have a strong sales presence in India and a robust commercial pipeline. Our strategy includes establishing local production in India to complement our existing global facilities, further strengthening our market position,” added Bodahl.

Strengthened by bilateral trade agreement

Pixii’s entry into the Indian market is further boosted by the recent trade agreement between India and Norway, signed in New Delhi in March.

“The expanding Indian market, coupled with streamlined trade access, made our decision to invest in India straightforward,” Bodahl noted.

Pixii - innovative, modular, and scalable

Pixii’s energy storage systems, powered by the advanced PixiiBox module, offer seamless energy transfer between the grid and batteries, ensuring reliability and easy maintenance. The modular design of Pixii's technology makes it adaptable to a wide range of applications, including utilities, commercial buildings, industrial enterprises, grid balancing, and EV charging stations.

A Global Expansion Journey

Pixii, recognized as Norway’s fastest-growing tech company in the 2023 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 awards, continues its global expansion. Although headquartered in Norway, over 90 percent of Pixii’s sales are international, with significant markets in Scandinavia, the Baltics, Europe, and now, India.
