Erna Solberg is the godmother for the naming ceremony of Havila Pollux in Bergen
26.4.2024 13:02:00 CEST | Havila Voyages | Press release
On Monday, May 13th, the naming ceremony of the coastal cruise ship Havila Pollux will be held at Bryggen in Bergen, with former Prime Minister Erna Solberg as the ships godmother.

Havila Pollux was put into operation along the coastal route Bergen – Kirkenes – Bergen in August 2023 and will now finally have its official naming ceremony. Havila Voyages has secured a quay spot at Bryggen in Bergen and will hold the naming ceremony there on Monday, May 13th.
“Bergen is our turnaround port and a very important port for the coastal route. Therefore, we thought it was entirely appropriate to have the naming ceremony here”, says CEO Bent Martini.
Bergen native and former Prime Minister Erna Solberg has been chosen as the ship’s godmother.
“We are both proud and happy that our former prime minister was eager to take on the honorable task of being the godmother for Havila Pollux. It is also extra special that we have a true Bergen native as godmother. Additionally, the Buekorps will play at the quay during the event, which adds an extra touch”, says Martini.
Havila Pollux will dock at Bryggen on Sunday, May 12th, and there will be an open ship for all who want to come aboard to see the ship up close, or for those who wish to test the onboard dining concept. On the actual day of the christening, everyone is warmly welcome to attend the christening event from Bryggen.
“It is a great honor for me to be chosen as the godmother for Havila Pollux, and of course, it is extra special when the naming ceremony takes place at home in Bergen”, says Erna Solberg.
“On Havila Pollux, both Norwegians and tourists will get to see some of the most beautiful things we have, our coast. Fortunately, the ship takes care of our coastal and fjord landscapes by being more environmentally friendly, including the ability to sail without emissions for periods. I am a proud godmother”, she concludes.
Program for the day
11:00 Naming ceremony at Bryggen in Bergen
11:30 Tour on board (meet in Havblikk on deck 9)
12:30 Lunch for christening guests in Havrand Restaurant
Havila Pollux sails out to Byfjorden outside Bergen after the naming ceremony and will later dock at Jekteviksterminalen to prepare for departure on the coastal route later the same evening.

About Havila Voyages
Havila Voyages is a Norwegian shipping company that sails the classic coastal voyage between Bergen and Kirkenes with the Norwegian coast's most environmentally friendly ships.
The four new ships are loaded with one the world's largest battery pack ever installed on passenger ships and can sail for up to four hours without noise or emissions through vulnerable areas. The batteries are charged with clean hydropower at shore, and when the batteries are low we switch to natural gas which cuts CO2 by around 35 %.
The hull is specially designed for maximum energy efficiency, and excess heat from cooling water and sea used for heating on board. On the menu are locally made dishes from local producers, and all unnecessary plastic is avoided. We are already exceeding the authorities' requirements for cutting emission, and we have set sail with zero emissions as the future target.
Havila Voyages is part of the Havila Group that dates back to the 1950s. It all started when the founder, Per Sævik, bought his first fishing boat in his teens. From fishing and herring fishing, Havila is now a group operating in shipping technology, offshore, transport and tourism.
