Dance With A Stranger releases new music after 17 years!
15.3.2024 09:15:00 CET | Sounds Like Gold | Press release
Dance With A Stranger, one of Norway's best-selling bands of all time, turns 40 in 2024! The anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year with anniversary concerts and new music! The new single "Great Wheel's Turning" is out today.

It has been a whole 17 years since new music came from the band, and now they are ready to take listeners back to the classic DWAS sound.
- Since it's our 40th anniversary, we wanted to celebrate with a couple of new songs. Both for ourselves, but primarily we wanted to give something back to the fans who have followed us all these years, the band says.
The recordings have become a remarkable reunion with original members and key contributors from the band's heyday, including producer Bjørn Nessjø and programmer/keyboardist Kjetil Bjerkestrand. The new songs are written by Frode Alnæs, who has composed all the music for DWAS, and the lyrics, as tradition dictates, are by Øivind Elgenes (Elg) and Jeff Wasserman.
- Incredibly, we managed to gather the crew who worked on the very first records. The feeling of going back to our roots and working with our original creative forces was invaluable to us.
An extraordinary surprise for fans is the involvement of their old backing vocalists from New York, Vaneese Thomas, Angela Clemmons Patrick, and Darryl Tookes. These talented vocalists are known for their collaborations with musical legends like Aretha Franklin and Bruce Springsteen.
With an impressive 40 years on the road, Dance With A Stranger has retained its massive audience and popularity, known for its musicality, joy of playing, and energy. Their first album in 1987, awarded with Spellemannspris, led to a breakthrough in 1988 with "Everyone Needs A Friend". The band, consisting of Frode Alnæs, Øivind "Elg" Elgenes, Bjørn Jenssen, and the late Yngve Moe, has released eight albums, won three Spellemannspriser, and topped the VG-lista with several hits. With their distinctive sound inspired by blues, jazz, soul, rock, and pop, they are considered one of Norway's best live bands. In 2024, there will be significant activity in the festival summer and celebration of the anniversary with concerts in September, along with the release of the two new singles.
