Pyramid Dance - The riveting rythmic first single from André Roligheten´s upcoming album

"Pyramid Dance" is the first single from the album "Marbles," which will be released on ODIN on November 3rd. It sounds like a nonchalant camel gallop across the sand dunes with the pyramids and the starry sky on the horizon.

André Roligheten is known for his strong presence in a variety of collaborations ranging from Gard Nilssen's Acoustic Unity, Team Hegdal, Friends & Neighbors, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Susanne Sundfør, to his own release "Roligheten - Homegrown" from 2017. His new album "Marbles" will be released November 3rd on ODIN Records, and first up, october 3rd, is the single "Pyramid Dance".

As with all the compositions on "Marbles," inspiration is drawn from a fantasy planet or parallel galaxy that shares similarities with our own, but where core values and nature are entirely different. Creativity and love are the fundamental pillars, while capitalism and power do not exist.

The melody is inspired by the geometric shapes of a pyramid - triangular with four sides - so the song contains rhythmic elements of the numbers 3 and 4. Jon Rune, Mattias, Johan, and Gard elevate this to the stratosphere with exquisite rhythmic play.

André Roligheten - tenor saxophone

Johan Lindström – pedal-steelguitar

Mattias Ståhl - vibraphone

Jon Rune Strøm - double bass

Gard Nilssen – drums
