American/Norwegian Adam Douglas shows his uniqe voice as a songwriter with his new americana album
Today he is releasing "Dancing For The Moon" - a musical goody bag of everything modern Americana has to offer. There, Adam Douglas proves once again why he is considered one of Norway's best vocalists and musically storyteller.

Today the American/Norwegian singer and songwriter Adam Douglas is releasing his long-awaited new album. "Dancing For The Moon" is a varied record with everything from beautiful ballads to groovy feel-good tunes from the top shelf. Roots, Blues and Americana beautifully united, and with him Douglas has brought a stellar team of musicians. Including two lovely duets with two of Norway's most beautiful voices; a version of Don Williams' classic "We're All the Way" in duet form with Christel Alsos and a timeless Americana ballad "Deja Rendezvous" together with Solveig Slettahjell.
This year, Adam Douglas has presented himself from his many musical sides, with many different singles from his upcoming album. Adam grew up in Oklahoma, US and much of his inspiration comes from here - through Howlin' Wolf and Ray Charles' flirtation with country. He mixes soul, gospel, jazz and roots, and after he moved to Norway in 2008, his music has also drawn inspiration from Norwegian mountains and forests.
His debut as a solo artist came in 2015 with the album "I May Never Learn". However, it was not until he participated in and won in the Norwegian singingcontest Stjernekamp(The battle of the Stars) in 2017 that he really sang his way into the hearts of the Norwegian people. The following year he released the critically acclaimed album "The Beauty & The Brawn" and has since toured the country and the coast. In March 2021, he released his third full-length studio album "Better Angels", which he won a Norwegian Grammy for. Adam tells:
- After a good response and fun concerts with "the Better Angels" record release, in addition to all the drama surrounding the pandemic (lockdowns, etc.), and more political unrest worldwide - inspiration for new songs came pouring in. One of the only positives from the pandemic period was that all I could do was go into my bubble and write, and then write some more!
Adam Douglas shows clear dynamism musically, with riff-driven songs and his formidable vocal range on the new album. It is clear that he has a unique ability as a storyteller. He communicates in an honest and recognizable way within both large and small topics; everything that life has to offer.
For example, in the song "True Blue", he paints a beautiful picture of a love story, told nostalgically by Adam Douglas in a musical Americana landscape. The song tells a true story about two childhood friends who grow up together, only to find stronger romantic feelings for each other later in life.
At the same time, Douglas also addresses larger political questions and themes in a relatable way in other songs. Examples of this are songs like "Maybe Someday" and "I Need a Cigarette". There he places us in our own time, characterized by a troubled political climate and an uncertain future, while he gives the listeners a mantra that is impossible not to sing along to, like a musical therapy lesson.
- Songwriting was a good mix of own therapy and waiting for frustrations and telling others their stories through my own filter. It was opening up a new world for me as a songwriter.
The album "Dancing For The Moon" gives the listener a musical goody bag of everything modern Americana has to offer, where Douglas proves once again why he is considered one of Norway's best vocalists and communicators. Adam explains why this particular record stands out from previous albums:
- On "Dancing For The Moon" I have also recorded a lot myself. Much more than on all the previous records. Therefore, for better or for worse, the album sounds like the most authentic "Adam album" ever, if you know what I mean?
