Tiril Heide-Steen returns to childhood memories that originally set a life-long passion for music and theater in motion

Tiril Heide-Steen is best known as an actor in Norway and not least as a voice actor, so she has a lot of experience in using her voice in many different contexts. Something more of a new voice she has found, is her voice as a jazzsinger, making her own interpretations of her favourites jazz standards.

Her version of "If I Only Had A Brain" is from the musical The Wizard of Oz is out today! Harold Arlen originally wrote the song for another play, but it ended up being used in the famous tale of Dorothy. A story, film and musical that meant a lot to Tiril when she was growing up:

- I have a strong relationship with the musical and the film, as it was actually my strongest theater and film experience as a child. I saw this show about 10 times, and my father played the lion. I think this particular song is as good as "Over The Rainbow", but has not become as well known for some strange reason.

On August the 18th, her EP "Favourites" will be released, consisting of Heide-Steen's absolute jazz standard favorites in the original language. 

Fellow musicians are pianist Anders Aarum and bassist Marius Reksjø, who also helped arrange and produce the song. The recording technician is Johan Hessel Jelone and the mastering was done by Henning Bortne at Oslo Mastering.
