Continued increase in air traffic in September

The total traffic at Avinor's airports increased by 12 per cent in September compared to August this year. The largest increase was on international routes, which increased by 14 per cent from August.
– We are pleased that the number of passengers continues to increase, which reflects the positive development in the Norwegian aviation industry which helps more people to return to work after the pandemic. However, we expect even greater growth in October as the global travel restrictions were lifted on 1 October, said Gaute Skallerud Riise, Vice President Traffic Development in Avinor.
Several routes are reopened
The number of international travelers to or from abroad increased by 263 per cent compared with September in 2020. In line with this, more and more routes are being reopened.
- In week 39, 172 international routes were operated from Avinor's airports. While this is positive news it is still well below the 2019 levels, which had 248 routes the same week, Riise said.
