Avinor to host international air freight conference

The “Nordic Air Cargo Symposium” is the only regional air freight conference that focuses on the Northern European market. Suppliers, airlines, investors, entrepreneurs and other major players will get together to gain insight into the aviation market and make new connections.
“Last year NOK 5.5 billion worth of seafood was exported from Avinor’s airports, which is of great significance for Norwegian wealth creation. Norway is by far the largest air freight market in Northern Europe, besides the UK. We therefore experience a great deal of interest from the airlines with regard to the Norwegian air freight market. We believe that it’s very positive that Norway now has an arena where everyone can get together,” says Martin Langaas, Director of Cargo with Avinor.
Since 2006 Norway has seen annual growth in air freight of 10 to 15 per cent. At the same time, Avinor has taken a leading role in the Nordic air freight market by facilitating and enabling more direct capacity to Norway’s largest trading partners.
“The conference will be a good opportunity for the seafood industry to meet decision-makers at the largest air freight companies in the world,” Langaas says.
The conference will take place at the Radisson Blue Plaza Hotel in Oslo on 28 and 29 March. The topics will include the global challenges in air freight, plans for future growth in Nordic seafood export and network development.
Speakers at the conference will include Guillaume Halleux, Chief Cargo Officer of Qatar Airways Cargo, Jonatan Celetaria, Sales Director of AirBridgeCargo, Janne Tarvainen, Managing Director of Finnair Cargo, Andreas Mikalsen, Managing Director of Mowi (formerly Marine Harvest), Øyvind Hasaas, Airport Manager at Avinor Oslo Airport and many others.
