Tromsø Airport tied to Poland

Northern Norway’s Tromsø Airport will see the commencement of a year-round connection to Gdansk later this year, as its latest airline partner Wizz Air confirms the airport’s first Polish destination. Ultimately flown three times weekly by the airline’s A320s, but commencing twice-weekly on 16 December, the new link will see around 24,000 one-way seats available to the famous Northern Lights viewing point.

“Wizz Air’s latest announcement is a clear demonstration that our commitment to get Norway noticed is working,” enthuses Jasper Spruit, VP Traffic Development, Avinor. “In the past anybody wanting to travel between Tromsø and Gdansk would have had to connect via Osloor Stockholm, now they can fly direct! Not only do we hope to see many Polish visitors coming to experience the stunning Northern Lights, but by now offering over 50 weekly flights from our gateways, we welcome Wizz Air’s choice and availability for our Norwegian customers too,” adds Spruit.

The start of these new flights will see Tromsø offer 33 non-stop destinations this year and joins Avinor’s existing flights to Gdansk from Oslo (Norwegian and SAS), Bergen (SAS), as well as Wizz Air’s connections to another seven of Avinor’s airports – including Alesund, Bergen, Haugesund, Kristiansand, Molde, Stavanger and Trondheim.
