At the age of 72, Zhang Boli, a medical professional from Tianjin, was saving lives at the forefront of COVID-19 response in Wuhan while being saved by others. Doctor Zhang was convinced that the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) could be helpful alongside the Western medicine for coronavirus treatment. He led a team assisting in COVID-19 treatment with TCM in a temporary hospital in Wuhan’s Jiangxia District. With the help of his team, all the patients in the hospital gained full recovery. However, after working for 25 consecutive days, he was worn out and his gall bladder began festering. He himself received an emergency operation on the frontline. A well-known academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Boli is also a TCM professional at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Just like oral and literal translators, she was faced with a bunch of new terminologies every single day that were hardly translated before. Her story of combating the COVID-19 is echoed by many other everyday workers in different industries. Bian Zhen, Party secretary and president of Tianjin Textile Group, received an urgent task on January 27, requiring him to produce 300 sets of protective clothing within four days. Tianjin’s public health emergency response level was lowered to level-2 on April 30, after almost four months of continuous efforts in COVID-19 prevention and control. As a port city, Tianjin faced drastic challenges during the pandemic. On January 25, Costa Serena, a cruise ship sailing from Tianjin to Fukuoka and Sasebo in Japan, returned with 3,706 passengers, including 148 from Hubei Province, China’s epicenter of coronavirus outbreak. During the suspended trip, 17 people showed fever symptom, which put the local government on high alert. Tianjin authorities immediately dispatched health workers to board the ship for inspection and testing. After they tested the 17 passengers with fever, a helicopter carried their testing samples to the local disease control authorities, the results of which were all negative. Som en følge av korona-epidemien ble årets EM i wushu, som var planlagt arrangert i Moskva, avlyst. Det europeiske wushu-forbundet ønsket allikevel å gi utøvere av kinesisk kampsport over hele Europa et konkurransetilbud, og i dag ble derfor online-EM i wushu innledet. Totalt deltar seks norske utøvere i mesterskapet. Allerede på mesterskapets første dag markerte den norske troppen seg, med sølv til Sophia Abramowski (12) og bronse til Jonas Thorsen Loe (17).
